Born into prostitution, fourteen-year-old Yolie is left to fend for herself because her mother is incompetent to do so, due to her crack addiction. One night, she witnesses her mother being brutally attacked by her pimp, and Yolie’s rage immediately kicks in. No longer able to take the lifestyle that she and her mother have to endure, she shoots and kills the pimp. Panicked, Yolie flees from the scene with her mother, leaving the pimp dead in alley. She wakes up the next morning to find her mother critically ill from head trauma caused by the beating. Before she can fully assist her mother, Yolie is arrested and sentenced to fifteen years to life in prison. Inside, she receives her high school diploma, obtains her bachelor’s degree, and even meets a love interest on the outside named Spaz, who is a known drug dealer. He puts money on her books, writes her love letters, and on the day of her release, he picks her up and surprises her with a new house. The day after Yolie’s release, Spaz leaves town for the weekend, only to be set up by one of his inside men. Fearful of coming back to Houston, he instructs Yolie to gather up his money from one of his safes and meet him out of town. Yolie agrees, but once she opens the safe, the sight of a million dollars in cash leads her to quickly change her mind. Instead of meeting up with her man, she uses his money to boss up and build her own empire with Spaz’s connects and his former team. Being the HBIC in the streets of H-Town, Yolie becomes a savage and puts all the men who lack respect in their place. Everything changes when the reality of what she has done comes back at full speed, and now her life is in danger. Yolie quickly realizes that she’s not the only woman running the show because Karma truly is a bitch.
