The title for this book came from a brief incident with a student. Early one morning before school, I noticed a student in my room working on something. When I asked her if she needed any help, she said, “No, I’m just copying something.” I walked over to see what she was doing and saw that she was copying answers to the assignment for my class from a friend’s paper. I told her what she was doing was cheating. Her reply was, “Oh, this isn’t cheating. My friend said it was okay for me to copy her paper.” My response to that was, “And, why is this not cheating?” We had a little discussion about it. I was surprised that she really did not think what she was doing was cheating. In the weeks and months to come I discovered the line between honesty and cheating became very blurry in the minds of many students and the idea of writing this book began.
