About the Author

I hope that my writing will inspire you the same way that I have been inspired by the authors that I love. I grew up taking road trips with my family during the summers and I would pass the time while they drove by reading The Silmarillion, The Hobbit, The Lords of the Rings Trilogy, the Chronicles of Narnia, and every Star Wars book I could get my hands on. As I got older my reading expanded, but The Silmarillion still probably holds its place as number one in my favorites.

I served in the Army when I was younger, and throughout my life I have been able to see and experience many places on the Earth that I never thought I would - South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Mexico, the Balkans, Germany, Canada, and more. Even with that travel I have learned there is so much more to this world than just the little bit that I have seen. However, reading has become even more enjoyable as these experiences broaden my imagination.
After the military I needed to find something else to do to help my fellow person - I joined law enforcement. I was a police officer and detective for approximately ten years before I was shot in the line of duty saving the lives of a few fellow people when a barricaded suspect opened fire on us.
I retired from that life, and once again had to find something that I could use to help or inspire my fellow person. I decided to go back to what I enjoyed as a younger man - writing. My imagination, coupled with my new talent of composing the written word (thousands and thousands of official reports) helped me fall into this role. I thought about what I wanted to write and decided on a couple projects. This one was easy. Philosophy and mythology have always had a huge impact on my life, so I decided to start my writing here with Apollo's Betrayal. I will be following up on this series with more works for the Shadow of Olympus collection as well as my other project.
As a prior soldier and law enforcement officer, I have seen some of the most truly despicable evils that humans are capable of, and some of the greatest kindness and compassion as well. My life experience is tied deeply to this work, and I hope that it shows for the reader. Hate/love, fear/courage, and betrayal/loyalty all have the common thread of context, and while it has been quoted throughout history many different ways, one man's trash is another man's treasure one man's meat is another man's poison, etc, we can all agree that our life experiences - our context - is what drives us.
