Working the easier Aran stitches into patterns can become addictive. The good news is that once you get going on the twelve row pattern in this vest the work becomes easier and faster. If Aran patterns intrigue you, it won’t take long for you to find ways to alter basic knitting patterns to accommodate your favorite Aran stitches.

This particular Diamond Stitch Vest pattern, worked as one piece on circular needles until divided for the armholes, is designed to be casual and comfortable.

This multi-page knitting pattern, complete with photographs, provides detailed instructions to create a relaxed fit button down vest. The pattern is designed as a medium size for women who wear size 6-8 tops. The diamond stitch provides a classic and traditional Aran design look.

You can make this vest with about 700 yards of medium weight yarn that meets the gauge requirements and your color requirements.

Size 6 (4 mm) straight needles or circular needle (29 inches)

Size 7 (4.5 mm) circular needle (29 inches)

One set of Size 7 double pointed needles for help in the 3 needle bind off

Tapestry needle to work in loose ends
