Overview

500 years have passed since the end of the Great War, which ravaged nations and left behind only a quarter of the world's population.

With the war's end a gruesome tournament was born, in the hopes it might satiate the world's bloodlust and prevent future conflict from erupting. Centuries later, the veil of peace thins, and the tournament controls society in ways no one could have anticipated.

Amber, an 18-year-old with dominion over the wind, desires more than the monotony that the small island of Muna offers. While the secluded island has been her home since she was a child, Amber and her friends-A.J. and Zion-are treated as outcasts among the islanders, who fear people with abilities. Hoping to travel the world and discover a place they feel they belong; the friends jump at the opportunity to enter the world-famous Ultimate Battle Tournament and represent Muna for the first time. Powers and weapons are all permitted in the tournament, and they must work together to hone their individual gifts if they want to become the Ultimate Battle Champions.

On the eve of their debut battle, they are approached by Lacey Proctor, a seasoned competitor who becomes their ally. When Lacey joins the trio and dire consequences ensue, they are forced to uncover the true nature of an ancient power. As the team advances, accumulating debt in the blood sport to a mysterious stranger, they must reluctantly accept their harsh new reality of constant strife as they repay the favor. They soon realize a much larger sport is at play: all-out war.

The team finds itself not only fighting to survive in the tournament- but also to save the world.
