Editorial Reviews

Library Journal

Following excerpts of letters and other written material from physicist Richard Feynman, his wife, and a few other major scientists, this full-cast production of Vandenbroucke's 1997 play, set in 1943 New Mexico, paints a compelling landscape of the personal lives and public considerations of those scientists involved in the creation of the atomic bomb. The performances by actors Larry Cox, Jeannie Elias, Robin Gammell, Jon Matthews, Philip Mershon, Danny Mora, Wolf Muser, Lisa Jane Persky, John Vickery, Tom Virtue, and Ron West are by turns funny, charming, and even morose, though some of the transitions can be hard to follow. While enjoyable and moving, the production as a whole lacks a substantive growing tension and is really more of a collection of vignettes than a fully fleshed-out narrative. Recommended for those who enjoy audio dramas, history, and science.—Lance Eaton, Peabody, MA
