We are just days away from having an auction. Wednesday, December 3, 2014, there will be a sale of tractors, tillage equipment, a planter, a combine and much more, here on our farm. A bright flame will soon be extinguished in the farmer who loves farming. The beautiful machinery will depart. The sheds will be empty. The job as a farmer will come to an end. A living and a lifestyle that we have always known, and loved, will be gone. We pray to God for help finalizing this life chapter, and to open the next chapter in the book He has written for us.

About the Author

Growing up on a farm produces a deep love of land and livestock. I’ve been blessed to find a man that shares that same love. Dave and I grew up on Century family farms, in the heartland of Iowa. Farming is a life and a lifestyle, that when obtained, leaves a vivid, lifelong imprint on one’s heart.

A farmer is an eternal optimist. Dave spent a lifetime caring for the land and his crops. For forty-three years, he witnessed bumper crops, drought, floods, high corn prices and below profit record losses. The decision to retire was not easy, but necessary. Read about the emotional journey of our last days of farming, reliving the joys and sorrows, as we search for the new direction God will send us.
