Overview

This book is based on a collection of comments submitted to the Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee (IACC). Members of the committee never discussed the comments I submitted, nor those of other stakeholders. Evidence is available in the medical literature going back 130 years of how the brain is injured by toxic substances, and over 50 years of how the brain is injured by oxygen insufficiency at birth. This is evidence that should not be ignored in the search for understanding the likely impairment of the auditory system in children with autism, and the basis of the developmental language disorder, the most serious handicap for autistic children.
