The genre of science fiction didn’t just spontaneously generate. It was brought to life through Frankenstein’s monster and morphed into being through the imagination and creative skills of Jules Verne, H. G. Wells and dozens of other authors, as well as their readers whose own lives and imaginations were sparked by their works. Here is a collection of ten early classics, plus a new work of 2010 featuring Robert M. Hopper’s “The Book of Adam: Autobiography of the First Human Clone.” The result is the equivalent of more than 2,000 printed pages tracing back many of science fiction’s biggest and most influential creations.
