Overview

What he saw was not what anyone could have expected. The branches and mud were only a small part of a larger nest that had been built over the tunnel. He stood in the center of the nest surrounded by over a dozen boulder sized objects that seemed to be alive with movement. They were of different colors of burgundy and blue with trails of red buried within their membrane.

He slowly made his way to the nearest object when he heard a heart beating from inside the hardened shell. It was only a matter of seconds before he concluded that the red lines were functioning arteries pumping the needed blood supply to the thing growing inside of what he soon realized was some sort of hibernating eggs. He heard one of the eggs behind him beginning to crack open.

"Oh bloody hell," Herminion whimpered. "Everyone, get back down the hole!"

Rasmuss stood frozen to the ground as the memory of his deceased lover dangling in the mouth of one of the ghastly monsters flashed over and over in his head. The protective dragon spewed a stream of fire toward the paralyzed king.

She pulled young Ryder from her bosom and swore she heard him giggle like a demented doll. It was the same sound that had haunted her mind since her sexual encounter deep within the woods. She felt her body go numb when the split, black tongue slithered out from between her child's tiny lips, and his beautiful blue eyes turned an evil color of black. The outpouring of tears and sorrow was Randi wishing she had died during the child's birth.

"Randi, what's the matter? Are you alright?"

"It's our son. Look at his eyes and his mouth. This child is evil just like his..." she abruptly stopped mid sentence.
