Purpose: The purpose is to compile compact, yet up-to-date, information on this rare disease. There are few other books on this subject, and none as recent or comprehensive as this one.
Audience: The book is written for general practitioners, detailed enough to be useful for anyone who takes care of patients with Behcet's syndrome but easily understood by anyone with a medical degree. The editors and chapter authors bring their years of experience in dealing with patients with this disease.
Features: The features of Behcet's syndrome, from history and diagnosis to individual organ system involvement, are covered. The book reviews up-to-date literature on treatment and discusses pathology, disease mechanisms, and genetics. It thoroughly covers manifestations of each organ system and includes photos of patients and radiographs. Finally, it reviews treatment-specific evidence for each manifestation.
