Behind Closed Doors
I had my first full blown manic episode when I was about twenty-six years old. But it was over ten years before we found out I was bipolar. It is hard to diagnose and I did not help the situation because I would not talk about what happened. My Jesus walks me through each journey of manic depression. I have included scriptures and prayers that helped me go through to the other side and back to a sound mind. I praise GOD that I am able to function and for His healing. I now live with my parents. I am the mother of two children and the grandmother of two beautiful girls and two handsome boys. I live a very productive joy-filled life. Sundays, I start my week helping to teach the preschool Sunday school class; it is wonderful to watch them grow up while they are in our class. I sing in the church choir during the worship service. On Mondays, I work with the C D Ministry for the homebound; we copy the church services and deliver them to those who cannot come to church. Tuesdays, Momma and I purchase groceries for the church. Wednesdays, I am cooking the Fellowship Supper, we serve about 100 and I practice with the choir after we clean up the kitchen. Thursdays, I proofread booklets at Church Starts International. Fridays, I work on my book. Saturdays are my free day to do whatever I like. During the summer, I teach missions during Vacation Bible School and I am part of the kitchen staff of Katie's Kids Kamp. I hope this helps people with bipolar disorder and their families as they deal with the ups and downs of this illness. I wrote of what helped me and what did not.
