Overview

The Indian Territory was an unforgiving, hard land, filled with men, just as hard
and just as merciless. It was the birthplace of a slight, pale, boy named Boone Marlowe.
He learned early in life not to expect too much from anyone. Boone Marlowe was a restless
spirit never staying in one place too long. As a scout for the US Cavalry, Boone honed
his fighting skills against the Sioux. But he was set adrift when the last of the great
Indian Wars came to an end.

The tide of fate pushed Boone ashore in Cape Town, South Africa. Boone soon found a new
employer on the Dark Continent; the Transvaal Rangers. Along with the Boers and the British
troops, Boone is thrust into action against the deadly Zulu impi in the fierce Anglo-Zulu War.
After the war, Africa loosens its hold on Marlowe, and Boone returns to the land of his birth.

On the grassy plains of Wyoming, there were still jobs to be had for a man handy with a gun.
To his surprise, he discovers an affinity for horses; the Appaloosas of the Nez Perce. Riding
for the brand places him in the middle of a conflict between a would-be cattle baron and a woman
determined to raise fine horses. A war, hotter than the drought-stricken range, is coming. Though
he may not win, Boone prepares to wage war the only way he knows: guns loaded; no quarter asked
or given.

About the Author

I was born in rural Southeast Missouri in the middle of the last century.
Turning eighteen, Uncle Sam provided a job for me. The GI Bill turned out to
be my ticket to a college degree, allowing me to make a career out of
programming computers. Developing software--a career focused on technology,
was challenging. Now I am retired, and I write books instead of programs.

My wife and I lived in Palm Beach County for twenty years, where a walk
on the beach could turn up sea shells, shark teeth, bits of coral and odd
bits of flotsam. Now we live in Tennessee, where we enjoy the changing seasons!
