About the Author

Meeting new people, getting to know them, and what makes them tick have always been some of Bertha's
greatest joys. So having the opportunity to become a Tupperware Representative was a natural fit for
her. During her ten years with Tupperware, she earned numerous awards for sales and recruiting and
was promoted to Manager, than was provided a new car every two years. She was invited into
thousands of homes, meeting thousands of people she shared life with through her parties. Once a year,
Tupperware hosts a huge "Jamboree" in Orlando, Florida, allowing a representative to meet and
mingle with like-minded individuals from all over the United States.

Bertha became associated with House of Lloyd after Tupperware, a privately owned home party
company featuring home decor and gift items. She hosted parties in homes in all country areas, earning

many sales awards and growing her knowledge of people and places.

Bertha became the Manager of the Chronicle Herald, Hoopeston's hometown newspaper. This provided
her the opportunity to visit businesses and individuals all over the area. So often, she was confronted
by those who complained of the bad news they get from all angles and would enjoy something more positive.

She created "Bertha's Corner" which provided down-to-earth insights into everyday happenings in one's
life. It was a big hit, soon becoming a monthly favorite with readers. However, upon her retirement, the "Corner" came to a halt. Nearly five years later, Bertha was asked by Hoopeston’s only daily news
publication, "Just the Facts," to provide "Bertha's Corner" for that publication. Today the "Corner" has
twelve advertisers that support the twice a month article. It is shared by local and area residents and
pulled up online by folks all over the country.

After reading several of the "Corners," Bertha's cousin in California advised, "you need to put together a
book, so these treasures can lift everyone."

It is our sincere hope that each episode moves you and you enjoy the book.
