Overview

Between Yips of Victory and Guilt is Eddie Black's third book of poetry. Like Uncooked & Undignified and Hound Dog before it, this nearly three hundred page book follows his travels and the interworking of the American underbelly. Like the title alludes, the poems and stories lay between the vast spectrum of human experience. Between the extreme highs and bottomless lows. There is love, heart break, sex, drugs, violence, all splintered with slivers of undying hope, no matter how difficult it may be able to see. These are the stories from his life. The stories from the lives of other downtrodden Americans, simply trying to survive. These are the stories of all of us. Illustrated and Elevated by the mad artist himself, Filip Fric.

"Eddie Black lives in my travel bag. I love to read his pieces of prose to my friends on the road. This book has a roaring heartbeat of fierce intention & will be a late bloomer as an American classic as it is currently savagely underrated. Eddie Black is the greatest poet of the 2020's."
-Reeve Powers, bassist/songwriter for Beach Weather

"I purchased his book and I tore through it quickly, going back to a few pieces and feeling like I needed a shower and a cigarette after consuming it (and I don't smoke). This was one of the best books I've read in a long time. Eddie's style of writing is incredibly raw, uncomfortable, not pretty at times, and it's full of depth and character."
-Katie Taylor, author of The Collective Ache

"Front to back, an incredible body of work. In a world of stagnant, mumbling voices, Mr Black has a story to tell in a voice all his own. It's rock and roll. It's heart and soul. It's loud and partysome and quiet and sentimental. It's life and familiarity. I recommend this to anyone that's looking for something worth reading. Some say that literature is dead. I beg to differ. Mr. Black has answered the challenge."
-Jason Roberts, author of "Strings"
