About the Author

Tom Johanningmeier has been riding bikes ever since he managed to wobble his brown Columbia - with the banana seat and high handle bars - down the street without falling down. He has competed in triathlons. These days he enjoys endurance rides, hitting the trails on his mountain bike or commuting on an old hybrid to his job at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, where he is a deputy sports editor. Johanningmeier has also worked at newspapers in Kansas, Missouri and Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Jeannie, live in Fort Worth. They have two sons, Austin and Nick.
