About the Author

Richard Lee Tucker was born in Gorman, Texas, in 1937. As a child, he lived in the small town of Albany and the country near the Clear Fork of the Brazos River. Being surrounded by the birds and wildlife, he grew to love the outdoors and being lulled to sleep by the sound of the Turtle Doves. He graduated from McMurry University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and from Perkins School of Theology at SMU with a Master of Divinity degree. After serving as a United Methodist Pastor for eleven years in Texas, Montana, and Colorado, he taught Social Studies for 20 years in Longmont, Colorado. In 1993 he retired from teaching to pursue a career in sculpting bronze subjects of Wildlife and the American West. He has had studios in Colorado, Nebraska, South Dakota, and now in Arizona, where he lives with his wife, Marlene.
