Black Stoicism is 65 poems and letters that explore the depths of black mental health, belief in a higher power, stimulant usage, reliance on family, and love. Stoicism is not a term that usually describes people of the African Diaspora. However, black people endure excruciating emotional pain, mental hardship without the display of feelings and spiritual agony without complaint. Black Stoicism emphasizes the mental, physical, and spiritual determination of black people. Details depression to hope, suicide to life, and hatred to self-love. The author leads the reader on a personal journey from depression to self-love and hopes the reader validates their experiences and feelings to persist on their pathway to self-love.
