Blue Suede News issue #100
This is Blue Suede News' 100th issue! We've been publishing since 1986, and all back issues are still available, though some are reprints now. Our loyal readers tend to have every one. We cover a full spectrum of American Roots Music from Rockabilly to Blues, R&B, Doo-Wop, Honky Tonk Country, Surf, and all the roots of Rock'n'Roll. This issue has a cover story on Bluesman Rick Estrin, leader of the band the Nightcats, which was originally called Little Charlie & The Nightcats. Rick is an excellent songwriter, singer and harmonica player, and a longtime recording artist. There is an extensive story on Blues Legend Jimmy McCracklin, written by his former manager Howard DeWitt, and a short piece on Bob Geddins, Bay Area record man who recorded McCracklin and many others. B.J. Thomas has a new CD on which he remakes a number of his best known songs, and we have a piece on him as well. Country Legend Hank Snow's guitar playing was outstanding, and Bob Hover has written about that aspect of Hanks career in another story. Larry Donn was present at the dawn of Rockabilly, seeing the Sun Records legends playing at his high school and following in their footsteps. Our editor Marc Bristol has written the story of Larry's career, and regular contributor Andrew Mrey has written a followup story on Rock pioneer Matt Lucas. Our original story on Matt is back in reprint in issue #54. Regular features Tidbit Jukebox and Original Versions are here, along with our massive reviews section with books, DVDs, Box sets, CDs and vinyl records!
