Lyme disease is known as a separate entity since only a few decades. Thus, a lot of confusion still persists among professionals, and in the public as well. A dedicated association exists in the United States struggling for better recognition of this disease. Sometimes horrid in its consequences, it takes most of the times an indolent course, going unrecognized and untreated. Good immunity in populations from endemic areas permits rapid spontaneous healing in most cases.
