Review:"First if all, I like the fact that this book is a manual. It identifies what abuse is clearly and then offers resources to those affected by abuse while offering information for those who minister to the abused. The author offers personal insight into her own experiences with abuse and explains ways to achieve healing and wholeness from that. She thoroughly explains how forgiveness affects us and why it's an essential part of healing. Some of the other sections in this book covers how to prevent depression, healing loneliness and isolation, healing rejection, freedom from guilt, shame and condemnation and how to self-care. There's also an extensive listing of hotlines and shelters in the back of the book. As one who has experienced past and recent abuse, I recommend this book for all women and men because education and awareness of what abuse is and having resources to deal with it can help shine "light" on the darkness of these hideous acts.
