Dr Dabbs has twenty years of experience in the surgical pathology of solid tumors, with additional subspecialty-focused interest in the study of tumors of unknown origin, breast carcinoma, gynecologic pathology and tumor cytopathology. He served as Member of Medical&Scientific Advisory Board of US LABS, Inc. Purpose: This book aims to be a comprehensive reference in the field of breast pathology.
Audience: The book is aimed at pathologists, oncologists, medical students, pathology residents and fellows. It breaks down complicated topics in a way trainees understand and provides excellent examples and imagery throughout each discussion.
Features: The book consists of thirty-six chapters and begins with an introduction to breast histology and gradually introducing the reader to core themes, from benign and inflammatory conditions to progressively malignant lesions. Intermixed between the inflammatory and malignancy chapters are several chapters that include practical approaches to gross pathology specimens, sentinel lymph nodes, radiologic imaging, molecular testing, and diagnostic immunohistochemistry. Each chapter delves into specific pathologic patterns by succinctly describing clinical presentations and imaging, then discusses unique entities alongside high-resolution histology images. The chapters pair histologic images with immunohistochemical stains for each entity to aid in differentiating the staining patterns of each pathology. Various chapters include tables that clearly display histologic subtypes with their molecular profiles. Each entity includes helpful boxes that summarize key takeaway points for the reader. After a discussion on treatment and prognosis of the pathologic entities, each section includes a discussion of differential diagnoses. Overall, the book flows logically and makes difficult concepts easy to understand.
