This book elaborates the pioneer work on Didayis, a primitive Tribal Group of Orissa leading a semi-nomadic life within the hill range of Kondakamberu and valley of Machhkund river in an inaccessible Eastern Ghat of Malkangiri District after the construction of the Balimela Hydro Electric Project when the Didayi land was submerged under the water which consequently resulted in the migration of people into so-called as plain, hilltop and cut off sectors. About the Author

Rajib Handique (b. 1967), M.A., (Gold-medalist from Gauhati University), is presently Deputy Registrar (Academic) of Dibrugarh University. He has earlier served as lecturer in History at M.D.K. Girls' College and in the Department of History, Dibrugarh University. A life member of the Indian History Congress and the North East India History Association, he is actively associated with various academic bodies and organisations of the country. Dibrugarh University awarded him the Ph.D. degree in 2000 for his thesis - British Forest Policy and its Impact on Assam, 1864-1947. He has a good number of research papers to his credit.
