Broken Pieces and Disjointed Tales

BROKEN PIECES AND DISJOINTED TALES is a collection of flash fiction by author A.A. Dyer. Each tale brings the impossible, or very unlikely, to the world you know. Elements of horror, dark humor, and magical realism are found in these tales of ordinary life, with not so ordinary people.

"Jon Alone," Jon is just your average bachelor. He loves baseball, cooking fancy meals (for himself of course), and living in peace and quiet. He loves living the single life. The only thing bothering him is the noisy daycare that opened up next door, disturbing the peace in his quiet suburban home. But things get a lot worse when he receives a mysterious unmarked package.

"The Collectors," There are thirteen priceless pieces of art stolen from the Isabella Stewart Gardener Museum in Boston. The thieves, two well-known mobsters, are presumed dead after a violent car chase and shootout. But, what if they made it through the drama unscathed? And what if their motive to steal the pieces was something other than to make millions?

"The Man Who Lived on the Ceiling," A mother keeps her son who has an unusual and rare illness safely away from the world. Together they pass the time in their small studio apartment watching Wheel of Fortune and daytime television. But, what happens when the boy grows into a man and his mother passes away? An experimental tale of ability, heartbreak, and the pain of dependency.
