About the Author

Rev. William H. Carey founded the first LGBT-affirming Apostolic Pentecostal organization in 1980 in the city of Schenectady, New York. Affirming Spirit-filled churches can now be found all over the world. Bro. Carey served as Presbyter of the Apostolic Restoration Mission, an international denomination, as well as Dean of that body's ministerial training school, Apostolic Institute of Ministry.

Born in 1958 in Brooklyn, NY, he graduated from high school in Galway, NY before moving to Schenectady, where he received training for the ministry. He was ordained in 1981 in Omaha, NE, ministered in that city, and also in Houston, TX, before returning to Schenectady, where he served as pastor of Lighthouse Apostolic Church for more than a decade. He was a student of research writing and the humanities at Empire State College (SUNY), and has authored a number of books on theological topics.
