About the Author

Marc Brown is, perhaps, best known as creator, author and illustrator of the Arthur children's books that inspired the award winning animated PBS series. He has been working with the beloved aardvark for over forty years. Born one night when Brown was telling a bedtime story to his son, Arthur soon evolved into the book Arthur's Nose, published in 1976. Since then, Brown has written and illustrated many Arthur and D.W. books, and has illustrated many other bestsellers with other authors - including several with his wife, author, artist and psychologist, Laurie Krasny Brown.

Grade 1-3. In Buster’s Dino Dilemma, Arthur and Buster discover a fossilized footprint while on a school field trip. Arthur wants to return it, as the park rules state, but Buster insists on taking it home. However, his bad dreams, his short temper with friends and family, and his guilt over his theft prompt him, with Arthur's support, to return the fossil. While the last chapter abruptly passes over the actual return, readers see Arthur and Buster's satisfaction at their right action and the museum label with their names on it in the fossil display. This is s good, predictable entry in a series whose familiar characters, drawn in black line and appearing in one full-page illustration per chapter, continue to encourage children to attempt longer texts.

Buster finds a fossil on a class field trip and he doesn't want to give it back. Arthur tells him to turn it in but Buster doesn't want to. Buster thinks it's a rare dinosaur foot. Ranger Ruth figures out that Buster stole the fossil so he finally does the right thing and turns it in.

My favorite part of the story is when Buster had a weird dream where Francine and Binky were dinosaurs. It is really funny because Buster thinks it's true until he wakes up. This story reminds me of the field trips we take in our class.

I think others should read this book because they will be entertained by the pictures and the story.
