This seventh edition of the American Cancer Society's Source Book for Nurses provides basic knowledge about the most common cancers and treatment modalities. It is a comprehensive reference book written by oncology nurse experts for nurses. The purpose of this book is to provide a concise, up-to-date reference guide for nurses caring for the patient with cancer. It is written to reflect current knowledge and practice. This book is targeted for nurses in every practice setting involved in providing care to the person with cancer. It is a valuable tool for nurses new to oncology as well as the more experienced oncology nurse. Nursing students will also find useful information as they begin to care for cancer patients. The seventh edition is expanded to include many new topics, including cancer in special populations, alternative and complementary methods of cancer management, and sexuality and sexual dysfunction. The chapter on screening and detection is more comprehensive than the previous edition. Current bibliographies are included at the end of each chapter for the reader who desires more in-depth information. Words printed in bold type throughout the text can be found in the glossary of terms. An extensive section on cancer resources in cancer care remains a vital part of this text. This edition is clear, concise, and well organized. It is an excellent reference book for nurses. Topics and information are easy to locate. Multiple tables, charts, and illustrations throughout the text add to the overall ease of use. In addition, the paperback format and condensed size make this book easy to handle and use. The print quality is much improved over the sixth edition. This text is arecommended addition to the library of all oncology nurses.
