About the Author

Cathy Fortenbaugh is an AIM Higher Nurse Champion at Pennsylvania Oncology Hematology Associates in Philadelphia, PA. AIM Higher is a nationwide quality improvement initiative designed to improve the assessment, information provision, and management of 5 chemotherapy related symptoms. She earned her BSN from Widener University in Chester, PA in 1981 and then completed her MSN in 1992 in the Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist program at the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Nursing in Philadelphia, PA. Ms. Fortenbaugh has 25 years of oncology nursing experience in diverse settings including bone marrow transplant, medical oncology, surgical oncology, and nursing education. She has over 8 years of experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the inpatient oncology setting. Ms. Fortenbaugh is also published in several journals including Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing and Nursing Spectrum. She regularly provides lectures and in-services on a variety of oncology related topics for both oncology nurses and patients.

Margaret Rummel RN, MHA, OCN, CAN is the Inpatient Oncology Nurse Manger at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. She has practiced in a wide variety of settings as a staff nurse and manager including medical surgical units, medical/surgical oncology, and nursing education. Ms. Rummel received her BSN from Holy Family University and her MHA from Saint Joseph’s University, both in Philadelphia, PA. Margaret Rummel has published and presented on various topics at both local and national levels.
