This book contains the Proceedings of CACE Conversation I, Ecclesia in America: Evangelizing Symposium, April 26, 2000. Cardinal Pio Laghi, retired pro-prefect of the Congregation for Catholic Education began the proceedings with an articulation of the "new evangelization" as identified in the General Directory of Catechesis and John Paul II's Ecclesia in America. Dr. James Davidson, professor of sociology at Purdue University explored the focus on the issues, forces and challenges within the American culture that advance or impedes evangelization efforts. This book contains the complete texts of the two presentations plus the panel discussions that followed.
