Chasing Diana
Where were you when you heard the news that Princess Diana was killed? Everybody has an answer, but nobody has an answer quite like Robin & Jack Firestone.
They, along with their pre-teen son Brandon, are the only American witnesses to the immediate aftermath of Diana's horrific car crash, which occurred during the early morning hours of August 31, 1997. The Peoples' Princess had a dire date with destiny around 12:30 AM, as the bright spark of her life began to fade, as she lay dying helplessly in the smashed Mercedes.
The Firestones, as witnesses to the goings-on in Paris' Pont de l' Alma Tunnel for the next 3 days, are very credible and quite adept at weaving this epic tale, which spans the globe from London to Paris to New York; the reader feels as though he or she is a fly on the wall! Theirs is a one-of-a-kind story of murder, intrigue, crooked cops and intrepid paparazzi, all of whom will stop at nothing to get their hands on incriminating photos they believe the Firestones to possess; photos which would implicate those persons responsible for the conspiracy, which was designed to save the "purity and sanctity" of the royal throne, thus also eliminating Princess Diana's boyfriend, the late Dodi Al Fayed.
The Firestones' account is outrageously fascinating, as they were inside the Alma Tunnel even before the ambulance arrived on scene. What they witnessed was devestating carnage and chaos: an overly aggressive, zealous and frenzied paparazzi madly snapping photos of the smashed Mercedes and its doomed passengers, as well as the apathetic police who were "conveniently" on the scene, allowing the paparazzi to have a free-for-all.
Did we mention the Firestone's depostion taken by the French police... but which was "lost" for over 10 years? It "magically" showed up when Robin and Jack were called upon to give live testimony, on December 3, 2007, at London's Royal Courts of Justice for the Final Inquest into the deaths of Princess Diana and Dodi Al Fayed.
Note: in order to best tell the story, and under legal advice, we have changed names (e.g. the real life Firestone family has become the Goodrich family) of all characters, and, again, under the auspices of our lawyers, refer to our book as "historical fiction." It's best to read between the lines for the "big wink-wink nod-nod" truths.
