Saskia Maarleveld’s gentle narration is ideal for the sensual details in Rodale’s story; Maarleveld often sounds as if she’s conveying secrets for the listener to savor. Though she overlooks some of the story’s humor, she capably delivers the various American and British accents of her characters and, in particular, differentiates both the headstrong Amelia and the unconventional Alastair.
