About the Author

Tom Doughty graduated from high school in 1968 during the Vietnam War. Two years later he was a security policeman in the U.S. Air Force and served for six months at the North American Aero-space Defense Command (NORAD) in Colorado and the three following years at Athenai Airbase in Athens, Greece. After his dis-charge, he earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in English. During the first Gulf War, he enlisted into the Army National Guard, then transferred to the Air Guard for a total of 19 years as a Guard member to achieve the rank of Master Sergeant. He is currently retired and living with his wife of 35 years and his two wonderful daughters.
