Despite this, the added risks that cyberspace hold have led governments around the world to require all those serving in the military to disconnect during their time. This is where Nathan Ackerman first found himself disconnected, and quickly realized that he would never be able to return to his previous life. On the last day of his service, Nathan went AWOL and disappeared. Since then he has been laying low in the slums of the city trying desperately not to attract the government's attention.
