About the Author

Dr. Karlin is a Doctor of Public Health and has held leadership positions throughout his career in organizations such as the United States Agency for International Development, Population Council of New York, National Center for Family Planning Services under the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare, and the American Public Health Association. Dr. Karlin now lives in Boulder, Colorado where he serves as an assistant adjunct professor at the University of Colorado, teaching engineers and others interested in playing a role in international health, and taking graduate students abroad each year to study health needs and development in less developed countries. In his spare time, he actively promotes the development of a single-payer health-care system for all Colorado residents.
