About the Author

Linda Vaccariello visited Cincinnati for the first time in 1977. She went to a Reds' game, ate at a great restaurant, met some friendly people who took her to see the view from the Eden Park overlook, and concluded that this was a wonderful city. Three years later, in 1980, she moved here. And she discovered that she was right. Linda has spent her career writing about Cincinnati, its people, places, and institutions. With three decades on the staff of Cincinnati Magazine, she's had the opportunity to cover topics that range from architecture to zoo animals. Her work has been recognized by the City and Regional Magazine Association and the Ohio Excellence in Journalism Awards, among other honors. She lives with her husband in a townhouse that's in walking distance of City Hall, Washington Park, Union Terminal, the riverfront, and many of the other places captured in this book.

PHOTOGRAPHER: The awardwinning photographs of J. Miles Wolf have become synonymous with the people, places and events of Greater Cincinnati. For many, Miles' wonderful photographs of Downtown, OvertheRhine, the Ohio River, and other locations remain the impressions we remember, for he has a unique instinct for capturing the fabric and energy of Cincinnati. Miles is a prolific photographer who has cultivated multiple specialties in his 35year career including landscapes, architecture, cityscapes, and sports. His work has appeared in national publications such as Architectural Record, Better Homes and Gardens, National Geographic Books, and Popular Photography. He currently uses highresolution Nikon digital cameras for most of his work, but also shoots large format film on occasion. Thousands of his prints hang in private and corporate collections, and his photographs are part of the permanent collection of the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History as well as the Cincinnati Art Museum. Cincinnati, Ohio: A Photographic Portrait is Miles' ninth book. In it, he captures the vibrancy of a city that treasures the past and builds for the future.
