When Liza Crammer went through her great, great grandmother's desk after her father passed, she couldn't believe the stories her father had told people were true. Her great, great grandmother arranged marriages for mail-order brides.

When she read the letter from Cody Hawke demanding he be sent a mail order bride posthaste and her grandmother's remarks penned on the letters that no decent woman would marry him, she was intrigued. She found his picture and he was was so handsome it took her breath away. Inside the envelope was a gold and ruby pin and when she picked it up, it pricked her finger. The next thing she knew, she was face to face with Cody Hawke.
