Description: This book provides a review of the overall impact of traumatic brain injury (TBI) on the individual as well as on the family members. It gives an in-depth and systematic approach to addressing the cognitive-communication rehabilitation needs of the individual with TBI from acute care to community reentry. The emphasis is on rebuilding the pragmatic, functional, or daily living communication abilities of the individual to maximize social competency and functional life skills.
Purpose: The objectives is to provide a resource for strategies for the professionals and families working with individuals with TBI who have cognitive and communicative disorders. The in-depth coverage of truly functional evaluation and intervention procedures for cognitive-communicative rehabilitation within one book is a welcome addition to publications in TBI.
Audience: This resource is designed for practicing speech-language pathologists and graduate students who provide communication rehabilitation for patients with TBI.
