About the Author

Born in Harnai, from humble beginnings, Pir showed such artistic talent that in 1968 he was sent to the venerable National College of the Arts in Lahore. It was from here after graduating in Fine Arts in 1973 that his career in the arts commenced.
Whilst still a student in the Fine Arts College, Pir won the country's National Prize for Printmaking.
His early employment positions included: program organiser for visual arts for touring national and international exhibitions for the National Council of Arts and the National Gallery, inaugural set designer for a TV station in Quetta, principal of a pre tertiary art school to prepare secondary students for entry to the National College of the Arts. His first one man show was for the Arts Council at Quetta at which the Governor performed the opening ceremony. This was televised on the national news and in local newsreels.
Then in 1976, Pir won a four year post graduate art scholarship degree
in Italy. First year of study was spent at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Perugia. The remaining years of study were spent at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome.
