Dorothy Ajdaharian-Arakelian is a first generation Armenian-American born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. As a wife, mother and grandmother, she has spent her life unselfishly and is devoted to her family, friends, her church and community.
When asked about how her project began, Dorothy recalls that many years ago one of her sons, who lives out-of-state, would often request recipes from her. More than just rough descriptions, he was insistent on her being as detailed as possible, and through his enjoyment of cooking he eventually suggested that she write a cookbook, which prompted her to start her manuscript. Slowly a concept took shape and it took years of time-consuming work and attention to detail to convert what was second nature to her into very specific and detailed measurements and processes. Eventually, Come Into My Kitchen evolved.
Over the years Dorothy has generously shared her most popular and favorite recipes with family and friends, and now, in simple-to-understand English, she is offering them to the reader to enjoy. Her added anecdotes about the recipes, people, events and customs reminiscent of years gone by gives them special meaning and an added charm to her book.
Dorothy is well known for entertaining family and friends with a table full of special surprises and delicacies. As one who always preferred to work in the kitchen alone, hence, the book’s title, she now welcomes all to come into her kitchen and enjoy the favorite recipes of today and yesteryear.
