Overview

You can't know the totality of either Jimmy Sheephorn or his friend Frankie without knowing how they interact with one another, or with their mutual friends or lovers. And in such examinations, you discover much more, perhaps, that you bargained for.

Frankie has an on-and-off sexual relationship with his friend Jimmy's super-passionate girl friend, Juanita, who declares that she loves both Frankie and Jimmy equally. And in the end, she proves in her own lopsided way that she does.

The author tells this tale with stories within stories, showing that lives all too often mirror one another, but that it takes more than one such person's viewpoint to know the truth of things.
