About the Author

Born in Colombia Horacio Cifuentes made his early start in dance in Seville, Spain. He followed with classical ballet in Gdansk, Poland, and traveled Colombia with the Ballet Folclorico under Sonia Osorio. He was awarded a scholarship at the prestigious American Ballet Thratre School in New York and then the San Francisco Ballet School where he eventually worked his way to soloist and performed in various modern and classical productions under the direction of Michael Smuin. At age 21 he met his Guru, Walt Baptiste, whose wife Magana Baptiste introduced him into the fascinating world of belly dance. He has performed in all five continents and currently co-directs a dance and yoga school in Germany with his wife and partner, Beata Cifuentes.
