Overview

Could a crazy orphaned cow work miracles? In this middle school family saga, that is exactly what farmer Al Breinrhyte’s wife, Joy, prays for when her husband threatens to rid the farm of all its livestock. Having heard the prayer, Orphie, a young heifer, leaps from the cattle wagon in a desperate attempt to remain with the only family she has ever known and in so doing restores purpose to Al’s life. Meanwhile, Lester Lassiter, the school and neighborhood bully, whose life circumstances and resulting antics parallel Orphie’s in many ways, is on a mission to vanquish the family. Feelings of abandonment and other emotional trauma prompt the uncontainable and misunderstood duo to wreak havoc within the Creepy Creek community. Will miracles eventually triumph in this heartwarming and humorous tale based on a true story?
