Reading this book is like sitting down to tea and a friendly chat with the author. It's cozy and warm; the suggestions are practical, personal, and reaffirming. Ideas that can turn your house into a welcoming home are divided into two sections. In the first, the author suggests 10 commandments of redecorating. Such advice as "elegance is more often achieved by what you leave out" and "think of rooms as intimate spaces where you want to feel comfortable" is drawn from the author's own experience. The second section discusses such areas as the entrance, dining space, kitchen, and bedrooms. Sections called "Grace Notes" offer hints for each room. The message in this book is that your house tells who you are. It is enlightening reading whether you are redecorating or just like to think about doing so.
