About the Author

H. Beam Piper (1904-1964) (Henry or Horace Beam Piper) was an influential American science fiction author of novels and short stories. Largely self-educated, Piper worked as a night watchman for a railroad before publishing a series of short stories in the 1950s. In the early 1960s, Piper published several successful novels including LITTLE FUZZY, which won the Hugo Award in 1963. He committed suicide in 1964.
