This turns out to be a highly accurate secret stock market forecasting device worth Billions to the country that owns it due to its extreme accuracy in operation. The device originally French, and stolen from it by Bharun an African state. The device is wanted by the British, the Americans, the Bharunians larger neighbours the South Africans, and of course the French themselves. They all want the device.

The Bharunians and the security services of all these countries descend upon the picturesque rural village of Swingle Matravers some 6 miles from the sea and the Dorset coast, to try and wrest the secret device from the villagers self-appointed: Committee for Wealth. The villagers however are well organized and are determined not to give up without a fight. As a result, absolute mayhem ensues! A real David versus Goliath fight. Dancing Ledge, the second in the trilogy of stories featuring the nare do well villagers of Swingle Matravers - the first story: 'Robbing the rich to help the poor', cock a snook at the Western powers. Will they succeed? Or will all the security sophistication of the powerful Western world, plus the Bharunians and the primeval elements of wind and waves on Dancing Ledge in the final chapter, beat them in the end?
