About the Author

John Mattson is an architectural engineer, carpenter, adventure writer, and photographer who has spent most of his life enjoying the great outdoor adventures that our incredible planet provides. He is an expert kayaker, skier, and climber, and very active at age 60. He started his education in a one room school in North Dakota, but he has always believed in following his dreams. These dreams have taken him on a lifelong journey of exploration that covers six continents and many of the deepest canyons and great mountains of the world. He has been writing for fifteen years, and has published numerous articles about the greatest rivers in the world.
