Tons of SATA questions to prepare you for the NCLEX. “...WAY more questions than any other NCLEX review book I saw. There are tons of SATA questions, which is what I'm most nervous for so that was really helpful. On top of that, the rationales are really comprehensive and help you understand the question, and not just memorize the answer. There's a code in the book where you can take Q&A online and by taking a few quizzes, I was able to see which areas I needed to focus my studying on. Description: The 2,500 questions in this third edition review book reflect current evidence-based nursing practice and cover current topics found on the NCLEX-RN exam. The chapters are grouped into three sections on preparation, exam content, and questions, which include those that previous test takers identified as trick questions, such as opposites and similar option responses. The book also addresses a wide range of question formatting and includes helpful charts, graphs, and images. One chapter covers test taking tips, international test taking issues, and preparation before the exam. An accompanying online site has an additional 10,000 questions. The previous edition was published in 2017.
Purpose: The intent is to prepare new nursing graduates for taking the NCLEX. Key features outline goals, special content, and testing instructions that are supported by the 52 chapters, including new information on culture and spirituality.
Audience: The intended beneficiaries of this book include graduates from nursing programs that prepare students to sit for the NCLEX, repeat exam takers, and nursing faculty preparing students for program completion. Questions include real-life scenarios explicitly designed for novice nurses. The objectives are met by offering questions that focus on current evidence-based nursing practice using multiple formats. The author of all the editions has an extensive background in nursing education and leadership.
Features: This comprehensive book covers physical, psychosocial and cultural-spiritual domains of nursing care identified on recent exams. Chapter-specific questions written in current vernacular, with rationales for correct and incorrect responses, are appealing. Unique features include use of color photo diagrams supporting case scenarios, red "tips" highlighting key question phraseology, three comprehensive practice tests, an index, and a bibliography. Each domain is represented in the current literature. The index is helpful in locating content-specific questions for areas of increased need. One shortcoming is the use of acronyms not readily definable by a glossary.
Assessment: This is the type of review I used in preparation for the NCLEX, but on steroids! It is packed with content, rationales, and test taking tips expressly useful for new grads. Completing practice tests is effective in preparing students for the type, format, and wording expected on the computer-based test.
