While today there are lovely rolling green hills and sweeping flower-strewn meadows, the area also has numerous underground lakes, caves and treacherous sink holes. The title of this book refers to the largest of these, called a "boomshaw" (an Indian word for "big hole"). It is believed the boomshaw has a never-ending supply of cool, crystal clear water.
