Deposition vs. root canal? Tough choice if you conjure up an image of being given the third Deposition vs. root canal? Tough choice if you conjure up an image of being given the third degree by Perry Mason. But, giving a deposition need not be a dreaded and dreadful experience. Deposition vs. Root Canal explains how depositions unfold, what to expect and ways for deponents to focus and strengthen responses to be more comfortable and confident as effective, credible witnesses. Its not unusual to be intimidated or nervous by the thought of testifying under oath. You just dont want it to affect your ability to communicate. Deposition vs. Root Canal is sound advice for anyone named in a lawsuit, being sued or in a custody battle. It is also a handy primer for attorneys to give to their clients, especially when attorneys dont have the time, do not enjoy the task or simply do not know how to prepare deponents.

Getter researched these techniques after her personal preparation for depositions given as part of a series of lawsuits demanding more than a billion dollars from her former Fortune 100 employer.

About the Author

Pat Getter decided when she was in seventh grade that she wanted to be a journalist. Her first big break was interviewing the junior high school custodian and shes had an interesting career ever since.

Pat wrote for her high school and college newspapers, then while at UCLA decided to concentrate on getting into television news. Armed with her Master of Journalism degree, she left Los Angeles, drove cross country to Florida, opened the car door of her 65 Chrysler Newport and declared, my God, its humid here.

After eight years in TV news in Jacksonville, Fla., Oklahoma City and Cincinnati, Pat put her reporting skills, judgment and experience to work in corporate America specializing in media relations and handling many significant events. She was interviewed by the Wall Street Journal and NBCs Today Show among hundreds of national and international media and trade press while serving as the corporate worldwide media spokesperson for a multibillion-dollar product recall that involved more than 600 lawsuits. Even after she left the company, she was deposed three times.

In Houston, Pat established her own PR firm before she and her husband transferred to Washington, D.C., and she became a vice president of communications for a major trade association. After several years and seeking a change of pace, she moved to Las Vegas and was the public relations manager for a famous Strip hotel and casino. Pat likened walking through the casino every day to get to her office as being a kid in a candy store.

Pat then returned to television, working for the public. She wrote, produced and hosted a number of broadcast and webcast programs connecting the public and their county government.

An accomplished writer and leader for more than three decades, Pat also focuses those same skills on her hobbies and passions. She is the newsletter editor for the Las Vegas Valley Model A Ford Club and, as president of Doberman Rescue of Nevada, writes and produces a quarterly online newsletter about the non-profit organizations activities.
