Overview

The third in a four-part series from Pinecastle Records documenting the early years of the Osborne Brothers, Detroit to Wheeling covers the years 1953 to 1962. The sound and selection here is brighter and more lively than the first two installments, with a touch more gospel thrown in, and you can hear the brothers moving toward their mature, pop bluegrass style, although they had yet to add drums. The final eight tracks are drawn from live radio performances done in the winter of 1957 for radio station WWVA in Wheeling, West Virginia, and the sound quality isn't always the best on these cuts, but their historical value is sure to please fans of this innovative duo. ~ Steve Leggett
